Fourth of July 2017 essentially amounts to a four-day weekend this year and so much will be going on here on Fort Myers Beach it’s hard to catalog it all.
Events will culminate of course on Independence Day itself and will kick off with the annual Fort Myers Beach Fourth of July Parade. Matanzas Pass Bridge will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until Noon for the Parade, which starts at Sea Grape Plaza at 10 am and proceed up Estero Boulevard to Times Square.
Parking lots are available at Lynn Hall Park on Old San Carlos, under the Matanzas Pass Bridge, across & next to Lani Kai Resort. But walking to the parade will be easy from many of our beautiful beach vacation homes. LeeTran will also run a regular schedule all day.
You won’t want to miss the afternoon’s events from 1 to 3 p.m. in Times Square, near the clock. Patriotic crafts, a watermelon eating competition and and American themed trivia contest will all be part of the fun!
The fabled Fort Myers Beach Fireworks display is scheduled to start around 8:45 pm from Times Square. The Matanzas Pass Bridge will be closed from 9:30 pm to 11 pm to oncoming traffic. (Motorists will be allowed off the island but access to the island will end at 9:30 p.m.)
