"Great getaway and stay! - Ft. Myers Beach is still very much in recovery mode from the damage from Hurricane Ian. The sheer devastation to the island is evident everywhere. That being said, we still enjoyed our family vacation and FMB. There were fewer restaurants to choose from, but those that were open were very welcoming of visitors and thanked us for coming back. The beaches are still amazing and beautiful, and somewhat empty, which was a nice upside. We were very impressed with Palm Island, although many homes were destroyed on the same street, this one seemed untouched and updated very nicely. Beds and furniture were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked with all the amenities we needed for the week with one exception…there were no garbage bags provided. I brought extra dishwasher tabs and detergent from home, there were only 2 provided. There were also only 4 beach towels provided, so we had to do laundry daily for the towels to take to the pool and beach. Plenty of bath towels were provided though.
We were surprised that there was no pool access directly from the house. It’s an elevated ranch so you have to go outside, downstairs, and around to the backyard to access the pool. Not a deal-breaker, but it was inconvenient, especially with little kids. It would have been nice if that was pointed out in the listing.
That being said, the pool area was very clean and the perfect size for our family. We hung out in the loungers, used the grill, and ate on the patio set every day."
