Beach Pottery Etc.

Housed in a charming wooden structure and exuding beachy vibes, Beach Pottery, Etc. sells local arts and crafts, Talavera Mexican pottery, Vietnamese pottery, and much more.

They have everything you can imagine that’s pottery-related, and their pieces come in all shapes and sizes, suitable for homes, offices, indoors, and outdoors. All pieces are crafted in durable, high-temperature-fired clay with baked-in vibrant colors that won’t fade.

They also offer a large selection of items that are ideal for coastal décor, as well as beachwear, jewelry, local original art, gifts, and souvenirs — all of excellent quality and fair prices.

Here’s a tip: their clearance section has some great finds at bargain prices!

Erickson and Jensen Shrimp Sales

Speaking of fresh food, Erickson and Jensen Shrimp Sales is one of those rare local gems — a family-owned business that has been operating since 1950, with a fleet of shrimp boats and a seafood market in Fort Myers Beach, FL. Interestingly, they freeze the shrimp right on the boat, so you can still get it fresh. Needless to say, their shrimp is also chemical-free and unprocessed.

Besides wholesale of excellent quality giant pink shrimp, they also have smaller portions to offer to the public, in small, medium, or large sizes, ready to go, and at excellent prices.

The place is an attraction in itself, with friendly staff and that great dockside Florida vibe, a great place to stop by to see a business that has been in the same family for four generations and to grab some shrimp to cook yourself at your short-term rental.

Gulf Coast Town Center

For those who enjoy outdoor shopping (and what better place to do it than Florida?), Gulf Coast Town Center is a great space in Fort Myers. With about twenty anchor stores and countless specialty shops spanning fashion, sports, electronics, and more; you’re sure to find what you’re looking for.

Some of the shopping options include Bass Pro Shops, Bath & Body Works, Best Buy, Foster’s Grill, GameStop, Justice, Kay Jewelers, Marshall’s, Petco, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Zumiez, as well as the World Famous Cigar Bar, to name a few. And even if you’re not looking for anything specific, it’s still a delight to stroll through Gulf Coast Town Center.

After shopping, it’s a great idea to catch a movie at Regal Cinema or pick one of the many casual or upscale restaurants. Kids will love the candy shop or the ice cream shop, so if you have the little ones in tow, make sure to treat them, and visit the outdoor play area for kids as well.

Edison Mall

With anchors like Macy’s, Dillard’s, and JCPenney, Edison Mall is the only enclosed, super-regional mall in Fort Myers, and it has that old mall charm that some people love.

Besides those big names, it also offers more than 160 specialty shops, including Aeropostale, American Eagle, Bath and Body Works, Books-a-Million, and Victoria’s Secret, to name a few. There’s also a great food court, kiddie rides, and a play area.

Here’s a tip: The Twisted Crab is a great option for some cravings post-retail therapy. It’s just that timeless shopping experience where the whole family will find something to buy or enjoy.

Bell Tower

Another refreshing place to shop, Bell Tower, is an open-air mall dotted by lovely fountains and lots of specialty stores and restaurants, as well as a movie theater.

This option makes for a much less crowded shopping experience than elsewhere, and the offerings include flagship stores like Williams-Sonoma, Three Dog Bakery, Sunglass Hut, Talbots, and Bath and Body Works, along with more unique names such as Subtle & Chic, Oceanview & 7th, and The Cheshire Cat.

Dining will be great at places like DaRuMa Japanese Steakhouse, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, Blue Pointe Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill, Cantina Laredo, and Burntwood Tavern, some of which offer open-air seating and are dog-friendly.

By the way, there’s a nice bonus for pet lovers: There are Doggie Potty Stations throughout the center, and many of the shops allow you to go in with your pet — but make sure to ask first, anyway!
