The Calusa Nature Center is a wonderful place to visit for the whole family and is sure to be a highlight on your vacation. 1. Nature of Southwest Florida

Learn more about the ecosystem of Southwest Florida and Fort Myers. There are daily educational programs that will give you more information about the area. Also get an up-close look at many of the animals who call the area home like raccoons, foxes, butterflies, and birds. Also, make sure to check out the reptiles and amphibians. These are great treasures that the Calusa Nature Center protects and displays for the public.

2. Planetarium

Take a good look at the night sky and learn more about the stars and the solar system in the Planetarium. It is the only public Planetarium south of Bradenton and west of Miami, making it a unique treasure and a must-see attraction. There is a 40-foot stage and a state-of-the-art sound system, giving you a chance to be totally immersed in the presentation. It is open every day that the Calusa Nature Center is. Check for special events at the Planetarium as well!

3. Nature Trails

Head out on the boardwalks and be one with environment in the nature trails. Fun for the whole family, this is a great way to be right in the wonderful environment and learn more about the area.

4. Animals

Learn more and get a chance to see wonderful animals up close such as bald eagles, alligators, owls, foxes, butterflies, birds, snakes and much more! The Calusa Nature Center has experts on hand and will often have presentations about the animals.

5. Butterfly Pavilion

The butterfly pavilion is a great exhibit especially for the younger kids who would like to see butterflies up close. The pavilion is just over a year old and is a popular destination for visitors. The area serves as a conservation area for butterflies.
