Rise and Shine: The Best Breakfast Spots in Fort Myers & Fort Myers Beach

Fort Myers Beach, a charming coastal town located on Estero Island, boasts miles of powdery white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The lively pier, varied wildlife, and endless recreational opportunities add to the natural beauty and outdoor activities for you to enjoy while in town.

To make the most of all the superb attractions of this Florida gem, you need to get that great dose of energy with an excellent breakfast. The small coastal town has lovely spots where you can get heartwarming morning meals while soaking in the beach vibes to start the day in the right mood. For more options, you’re always a short drive from the vibrant city of Fort Myers, where you’ll find a greater variety of restaurants and breakfast spots.

In this blog, we have curated a list of some of the best breakfast spots in Fort Myers Beach and Fort Myers for you and your family to kickstart the day in the best way possible.

Mom’s Restaurant

Mom’s Restaurant is a Fort Myers Beach institution. Unfortunately, in 2022 it was completely devastated by Hurricane Ian. But locals and visitors couldn’t stay without Mom’s specialties. It hasn’t stopped them from making amazing food, so they reopened as a food truck at the same location on Estero Blvd. while they rebuild their beloved space.

Mom’s Restaurant serves simple and heartwarming breakfast meals, including amazing quiches, pies, cakes, sandwiches, and salads. The Homemade Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich, Chicken Salad on a Biscuit, and the Meatloaf Grilled Cheese Sandwich are great options for a morning meal. However, the big star is Mom’s homemade cinnamon rolls — they are 100% worth the splurge.

The service is 5-star. The staff makes you feel part of their family and is very attentive. The food truck has a lovely outdoor seating setting with great views for you to enjoy breakfast while soaking in the coastal vibes.

Eats at the Beach

If you want to wake up and head directly to the beach, you don’t need to skip breakfast. Eats at the Beach is right on the sands of Fort Myers Beach (close to Fort Myers Beach Pier), so you can enjoy starting the day facing the clear waters while you grab your morning meal surrounded by coastal splendor.

The all-day breakfast features a good variety of paninis — the Bruschetta Panini or Egg & Cheese Panini are great options. Breakfast burritos are also delicious. Couple your sandwich with one of their smoothies, juices, acai bowls, or fresh salads, and you’re covered with an excellent morning meal.

They offer tables with umbrellas for a comfortable meal on the beach. If you’re planning to spend the day enjoying the beautiful shores, you can also grab an alcoholic drink later, relax, and soak in the salty breeze.

Bonita Bill’s

Have breakfast immersed in a delightful old Florida atmosphere at Bonita Bill’s. Tucked under the Matanzas Pass bridge, the restaurant is over the water in a converted 1926 Fish House, providing an authentic Florida experience.

Bonita Bill’s is famous for serving fresh, local seafood, but their breakfast menu (served daily from 7 AM to 11 AM) has classic morning meals and, coupled with the ambiance, is a great option for getting your dose of energy for the day. Great picks include Bill’s Big Breakfast Plate, Breakfast Sandwich, Pancake Stack, Biscuits & Gravy, and French Toast.

The waterfront space offers an opportunity for you to admire the waters of the Matanzas Bay, spot lots of birds, and watch the boats coming and going. Before leaving, don’t forget to sign the Hurricane Ian boat — a sunken boat sitting halfway on the wooden deck that became a famous sight of the restaurant. What’s more, reasonable prices and great customer service add to the experience.

Savour Coffee

Located in South Fort Myers in the Island Park Shopping Center, Savour Coffee offers not only great coffee but also great options for breakfast. The chef and founder of Savour has always been passionate about the food industry and wanted to create a place where customers can get their caffeine fix and indulge in some morning delicacies.

Some breakfast highlights include Egg & Cheese, Pork Roll, Waffle House Bowl, Roasted Tomato Egg Wrap, and Tuscan Turkey Sandwich. You can also start your day with an Asian taste by trying their delicious Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwich. Don’t forget to get some pastries. Must-tries include bagels, chocolate croissants, and the guava cheese pastry.

To make your breakfast even better, explore their beverage menu. The signature lattes are sensational. Try Savour Sig, an amazing combination of espresso, white chocolate, raspberry, macadamia nut, and milk. The Amaretto Dark is also a top choice — espresso, vanilla, dark chocolate, and almond. For those who don’t like coffee, their beverage menu includes options like Boba milk tea, fraps, and energy drinks.

The ambiance is bright, and it boasts a modern and unassuming decor. The staff is extremely friendly, and if you have dietary restrictions, ask for the dairy replacements and sugar-free options — they will always have something for everyone!

McGregor Cafe

Located along the historic McGregor Blvd., McGregor Cafe is a go-to place for breakfast prepared from scratch using fresh, good-quality ingredients. The quality and great flavors are consistent, and combined with a relaxed ambiance, it’s one of the best places for a morning meal.

The breakfast menu is available from 8 AM through 11:25 AM and includes mouth-watering options. Their quiche of the day is very famous among locals and visitors. You have to make sure to get there early to get a piece of it (and they’re huge!) since they sell out fast. Other highlights include egg sandwiches, gravy biscuits and eggs, hot cakes, hash & eggs, and French toast. A must-try is The Benny, two poached eggs served on English muffin halves and grilled ham, topped with house hollandaise and home fries or grits — a true morning indulgence! Patrons can’t hide their “eggcitement” with the option of building their own omelet.

Beverages include excellent coffee, iced teas, hot chocolate, and juices. A kids’ menu is available, the portions are very generous, and the prices are reasonable. The casual and inviting setting is like a step back in time, and their tree-shaded patio is a perfect spot to start the day on the right foot.

European American Bakery Cafe

For over 45 years, European American Bakery Cafe has been committed to serving food using only high-quality and fresh ingredients. Their meals taste natural, look beautiful, and are big enough to give you the right dose of energy to go through the day in Fort Myers.

The diverse menu features delectable options like the Crushed Avocado Toast, Breakfast Bowl, and Smoked Salmon Plate. They offer a great variety of breakfast sandwiches — must-tries include The Classico Melt, Croissant Sandwich, and Garden Veggie. The O.M.G. Cheese Omelet is a sensation among customers, as is the Lorraine quiche, a mouth-watering savory delicacy filled with Applewood smoked bacon, onion, and Swiss cheese. Speaking of bacon, they always serve a thicker cut, applewood smoked bacon that will make you come back every time you’re in town.

Don’t leave before trying their butter croissant and other pastries like Danish and cinnamon rolls. For beverages, they partnered with Lavazza, offering great options of espresso-based drinks. What’s more, the ambiance is great to start the day — a delightful mix of modern industrial atmosphere meets Parisian bistro.

Sunflower Cafe

Want to infuse your breakfast with some delicious Mediterranean flavors? Then, Sunflower Cafe is the place for you. This Fort Myers hidden gem offers a diverse menu featuring Greek-inspired food as well as classic American fare.

All-day breakfast options include Eggs Benedict, Eggs & Biscuit, Corned Beef Hash, French Toast, pancakes, and crepes. For Greek flavors, try the Kayiana omelet — prepared with fresh chopped tomatoes, spinach, onion, and feta cheese, and served with hash browns and toast with butter. For a lighter start to the day, you can pick dry cereal with milk or hot oatmeal with dried fruit. They also have cholesterol-free omelets and vegetarian options.

The atmosphere has a retro feel to it and the service is friendly — all contributing to put you in the right mood to enjoy a day of sun in Fort Myers.
